DIRECTORY SUBMITTING TIP - If a directory doesn't allow deep linking, you can get around it by setting up subdomains.

New web directory http://www.relevantdirectory.com, very much like dmoz, but it's structured somewhat better. Reciprocal link is required if you register.

On the other hand, if you specify your region at the time or registration you will get two back-links since your listing will be available from both topical & regional pages.

Directories should be part of your link building but we have been getting better SEO results from forums. here are a few PR 8 forums that have category keywords associated with them.

Any chance someone who has been submitting a lot can update the initial list with all the additional directories listed here and taking in account whether they are still working etc? It has been 4 years now since the first post and I am new to SEO and wouldn't have the knowledge to check all of this myself, but the list itself would be uber useful.
