How often should I submit my site

Postby BOD » Thu Feb 03, 2005 2:30 pm

Hi everyone,

Apologoes for probably asking a silly question, but a newbee.

I have created my meta tags and submitted.

What are the main tips to gain high positions.

Should I submit my site on a regular basis the search engines?
Should I change my tags periodically?
Should I do any clever like having hidden content?

Any general pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks

BOD :D

>Should I submit my site on a regular basis the search engines?
No. Submit only once and you are in database for life to be recrawled. Even better, fins a site that will ink to you or post your link somewhere or purchase a directory link in Yahoo or popular directroy and you will also get indexed automatically and more often.

>Should I change my tags periodically?
No. Meta tags are no help these days. Concentrate on your Title tage, page content and link popularity.

>Should I do any clever like having hidden content?
No. Hidden content could get you penalized or banned. Search engines are becoming very smart in detecting these things.

Read more about SEO and Link Popularity in these forum and other sources. Cocnentrate on making a lot of links to your site, that is the most important factor these days.

With the rise of SEO awareness I think some are losing sight of designing for your audience.

Design first for your audience, then optimize afterwards. Search engines won't be buying your product, so don't design pages for them.

Getting listed in DMOZ will carry you a long way. It's the best kind of link.
As far as meta-tags, I'd still craft the meta description carefully. It does show up in the SERPs along with your page title.
Nobody cares about your meta keywords...

Re-submitting is a type of engine spam. I would stay away from it.

Don't submit to Search Engines (instead submit on directories...)
You can but this tags (metas) are somewhat useless....Just as they say focus on title tagsm link popularity, etc...
Hidden content. (never do that you can hide those text from human sight but not on search engine robots)....

If you are one of my competitors i would strongly reccommend hidden text. If you are not i would strongly advise not to use it. Use the advice you were given and remember their is no short cut or easy way. The faster you learn that the better you become.

Yes, do it regularly.

Should I change my tags periodically?

If it is your index page, do not change it. Changing on that regularly will reasult you to have a bad effect on your site

Should I do any clever like having hidden content?

It's just a black hat method and google will not tolerate any bad doing.

I usually only submit 1 time, that should be enough.

And dont use hidden content or any other blackhat tricks, it will only get you banned in the long run.

It's also a good idea to use H1 tags for your headlines

Submit to the web-directories is up to your free time. You can do it a lot as much as you can.
The same to build link-Exchanges but this is better because it is the same subject site.
