An exact match domain (EMD) is a domain name that exactly matches the keyword you want to rank for.
For example: you are running a school of digital marketing, exact match domain will be "schoolofdigitalmarketing".
To prevent spamming tactics, Google updated its algorithm in 2012 named as The EMD, or Exact Match Domain update which targeted exact match domains websites that were poor quality sites with thin content.

The exact match domain means the keyword which you want to use for ranking your website should be exactly matched with your domain name.
For example:-
If you want to rank your website for the keyword "best mobile", so your website should be exact as keyword.
