When did it expire? Check with your registrar. Normally you can renew for up to 30 days after expiration and then there is a redemption period for another 15-45 days where you can renew but paying a higher fee, normally $90 to $150. What is the domain name?

you usually have almost 75 day grace period during which you can renew your subscription. after that if someone else registers it then it is very difficult to get it back.

There is plenty of time to renew your domain but after certain period you might lost it and then you might have ask new owner about it. But its better to renew it in time to avoid all this trouble.

To get the expired domain name back, you can usually log into the registrar and just pay for it, with added fees for allowing it to get to that state.
