It is very difficult to exactly tell that which is better for yahoo, SMO or SEO. I have to do a lot of research in this area. It is not a single day observation and come to conclusion. It takes long time to finally decide which is better. Doing some sort of data mining in the workings around these topics.

You can't put a Vs in between social media optimization and search engine optimization. With the help of social media optimization you can do the search engine optimization in a better way. Cause Google or yahoo or any other search engine crawls or searches webpages from social media too. According to me social media optimization and search engine optimization both are equal important for promoting our website on the internet SEO techniques used to do all technical activities and finally social media sites are used to spread social signals.

We can't compare SEO with SMO because SEO is very vast and old field of digital marketing while SMO came in recent years and earn publicity because of social awareness among people.

I still think that Google has the best quality searches. It uses a lot more information than just scanning the page for strings of text.
