Signature is your own little space in the forum. You can put any texts or links to it. But please DO abide to the rules.

If you post on relevant forums and include links in your posts to your site. You also take advantage of the signature feature so that every one of your posts has an optimized anchor text link to your site.

Warm regards:D

The forums signatures are actually one way to build links over the net and many webmasters are using them for increasing their sites traffic and rankings online.

Signature is just another form of advertising your own links or putting down your own information that will appear below every post you would make

There are actually so many resources that you could use for your question to be answered. Like searching the forums or the net itself. It saves time (specially those who answered) since you'd do the research yourself.
