Alltheweb and altavista are slowly going to die as google is not allowing anyone to take a breath.
Also they are not updating according to the needs of the public .only showing a number of backlinks is not sufficient to survive in the market

I have once submitted a directory to ALL THE WEB, saying it's for free. But when i clicked on to the submit icon, it directed me to the billing page. Unlike , other directory site, alltheweb's activation membership confirmation took 24 hours yet others have sent me the confirmation in a split minute.
I never visited the site again.

AlltheWeb is used a lot, does not seek, but a more detailed link back. Not sure if this is what they are intended and are not sure how to ever make money off of it.
