Alltheweb gets used a lot, not for searching but for checking more accurate backward links. Not sure that's what they intended and not sure how they are ever going to make any money out of it.

I have not received a lote of traffic from those 2 search engines as well. Is there a chart somewhere that shows the traffic for the major search engines?

This was good search engine at one time, but it looks like they are falling by the waysite. Hopefully they bounce back in the future. I also agree that it is a great place for checking backlinks.

Alta Vista can't compete with powerful Search Engines. So seems it will falling down.

Alltheweb and altavista are slowly going to die as google is not allowing anyone to take a breath.

Also they are not updating according to the needs of the public .only showing a number of backlinks is not sufficient to survive in the market

I have once submitted a directory to ALL THE WEB, saying it's for free. But when i clicked on to the submit icon, it directed me to the billing page. Unlike , other directory site, alltheweb's activation membership confirmation took 24 hours yet others have sent me the confirmation in a split minute.

I never visited the site again.

Not only alta vista, but all search engines are dead in front of Google.

AlltheWeb is used a lot, does not seek, but a more detailed link back. Not sure if this is what they are intended and are not sure how to ever make money off of it.
