Homepage or deep links on directory sites?

Postby Kaiser » Tue Apr 21, 2009 10:18 pm

I've always heard the rule was to promote your homepage in niche directories but lately I've seen many companies promoting internal pages for more obscure search terms. What are your thoughts on this?

If the directory allows for deep linking, then by all means go for it. You need to get links directly to your deeper content to ensure that you rank for those terms.

Incoming links to inner pages is critical for good SERP placement. So its definately worthwhile submitting your inner pages to directories where you can... although there arent many directories that allow such submissions

Doesn't really matter where you submit it. It really boils down the quality or PR of the page.

It depends on your target. Directories that accept deep links are difficult to find these days. Most of them don't accept such links.

It's called deep linking and it is perfect when you are targeting a specific product.
