Most of the directories takes its own time for giving approval it may take 2 or 3 months or more than it.

Most of the webmasters know that link building happens to be an integral part of any SEO campaign. But it can be a problem getting good quality links from relevant sites. Therefore, in a very real way a good link building campaign has its own costs and will consume time.

May have to wait a long time to google crawl your pages,
and pages you have to submit to a quality backlink is created to be fast, efficient, and durable.

Those guys are very slow, I even tried to become an editor but haven't heard anything yet.

I agree. Backlinks can still help promote your site. Just choose directories with high PR and that they allow a "do follow" link. And avoid link farms.
