Once upon a time, a reciprocal link campaign was the most popular way of building links. You exchange links with another website and you both benefit. They do still have their place, if you can negotiate a well placed link on a relevant website with a lot of traffic. However, in terms of SEO, reciprocal links are known to have been devalued by the search engines. Consider every reciprocal link opportunity based on its own merit and, in most cases, ignoring the search engine optimization possibilities.

Right! Search engines devalued reciprocal links because in most cases, they are used to manipulate rankings in the earlier times (some doesn't even care about the sites that they are linking coz they are just for a good ranking and PR)..

agree with you guys...reciprocal links is just time consuming

i don't think its a waste of time... what if your link partners gives you a lot of traffic?? i believe recips has no effect in rankings and didn't help PR but if you can get much traffic,, it could be convert it into sales especially on those sites you were related to!

once more, my dear fellows..the clue is well-organized..as long as you can maintaine the relevance of your reciprocals partners theme, it'd be fine

reciprocal links is still good if the site is related to your site, a quality website and can help gain traffic for your site. but too much reciprocal links from bad neighborhoods might hurt your site

Try to focus on relevant link.

Reciprocal link is still good for seo go ahead for it.

Yup, here still good but don't forget excessive link will hurt your site.

... don't forget also to categorize/organize the links.. unorganized and huge no. of links in a page may hurt your site...

But still I think link exchange still has a good benefits.

I think it will be pretty good if it is the link with same subject.
It good for SEO as higher SERPs and drive more traffic from the related subject site.

A while back I went through my reciprocal links to see if my "partners" who were at one time linking back to me were still linking back to me. Lo and behold out of the 60 who weren't one has agreed to put my link back up. I emailed them "Hi! its me, your "partner", remember me? Remember we agreed to link to each other? I miss you, will you please put my link back up? After 8 weeks one of my "partners" has done so after telling me it would be 4-6 weeks before she would have time.
Moral of the story? I should have chosen better partners but they were pr 1-5 mix. I should have checked more frequently? Yes, but it wasnt on my list of things to do very often. A number of former "partner" emailed to tell me "reciprocal linking is not preferred by google so we are no longer engaging reciprocal links. Well as you might guess I deleted these links as I did not believe then and now that one way links to these sites was of much, if any, value to my site. My suggestion: Reciprocal link with caution! Check regularly to see if the link is still there. My conclusion: All things considered reciprocal links are not worth the effort considering the other means of getting links back to my site
