I’ve come across this dofollow and nofollow topic quite several times in many forums and I’ve replied to them as per my knowledge. What I know is secondary, but I want to know clearly about the topic and how far they would impact in popularizing the website.

Well, For what I know do-follow attribute is more effective than no-follow when it come to Google search engine rankings since.

But still No-follow will improve your ranks on other search engine like Yahoo, ask,altavista and etc.

well most of us aim at google ranking I believe.and most of our attention thus goes towards do-follow.

Currently not only google use no follow attribute, but all search engine also obey nofollow.

As much as I know Do follow links are more important then No follow links. Because Google search engine site only scroll Do follow link.

The only difference from no follow and dofollow is just link juice. If the link is nofollow the PR is not transferred BUT anchor text still counts. Most important is to have nofollow/dofollow links to your website, not just dofollow...

in my opinion google will count anchor text in nofollow, and go to dofollow to index this page

in my opinion nofollow is also useful.

Links, whether they're nofollow or dofollow, are always a source of traffic. They are both beneficial to a website.

that is very right,do follow or no follow,they help in bringing traffic to your site,difference is that of the count they bring,but as in they add to your profit making method...they are no doubt both useful

I completely agree with you. I think nofollow links don't pass the link juice to the PR but still anchor text has some value. And one should do both nofollow and dofollow links.

No follow links were first developed by Google as a way to control spam links on blogs and other sites. There was a valid complaint that many legitimate sites were being penalized if they had a large number of links to other sites with little or no value. By adding the no follow tag to any links (rel=“nofollow”), blog publishers and forum owners were provided a tool to prevent spammers from posting endless useless comments simply to get a free link back to a site that you might not want to be associated with.
The search engines expect to see a balance of “no follow” and “do follow” links to your site. What those exact ratios are can be debated, but it is clear that you should not be trying to get every link to your site as a “do follow”.

There is no need to tell the search engines to follow a link; it does do by default unless it finds a nofollow attribute or directive.

Do follow is important for our site that we all know but no follow is too useful as we get some traffic from it.

Do follow blog will help you to gain your backlinks by commenting in their article and putting your link.
