Pixel Pages. Are they worth it?

Hi all,
I have been looking into ways to invest some money for my site. Surfing around I saw pages that sells pixels. They place a link on their home page for 5 years, and it only costs you $100.

Reading about search engines, I encountered that placing just links are not really worth it, you don't get anything from it. What really counts are the links that are placed within a paragraph.

My question is, is it really worth to spend money on those pixel sites?

I found this one page ( http://www.tenthousandclicks.com ) that sells web pages in a form of pixel site, but instead of a link, you actually get a web page, which I don't think is a bad idea at all. I'm highly considering into buying from this one.

Any way, any good feedback from pixel sites?

I think is better to put your link to Home Directory Service because is link to you

I would research the page thoroughly. If they have that many outbound links, then how will it help you? Any "linkjuice" you get is probably diluted by all the other outbound links.

I think that pixel sites are no way different from link farms. Aren't they?

If the site have good PR value, then I would go for the link from the homepage, provided that the site did not advertise the link offer publicly. It can cause google's penalization for links trading.
