Yes even i think the forums will help for keywords ranking.if your talking sense in the particular section which is very relevant to your blog or hub page,you can take a link back form the keyword which your looking for.so that your page also index by google and your blog and hub page also get more visitors.

Its not like that, I got backlinks from do follow forums and they are good for site ranking.
