Invalid click activity consists of any clicks or impressions that may artificially inflate an advertiser's costs or a publisher's earnings, and for which we decide not to charge the advertiser. This includes, but is not limited to, clicks or impressions generated by a publisher clicking on his own ads, a publisher encouraging clicks on his ads, automated clicking tools or traffic sources, robots, or other deceptive software.

Google considers invalid click activity as any clicks or impressions that artificially inflates an advertiser’s costs, or a publisher’s earnings. Despite Google’s Ad Traffic Quality team monitoring traffic across its ad network in an effort to prevent advertisers from paying for invalid traffic, click fraud remains rampant.

manual clicks intended to increase your advertising costs or to increase profits for website owners hosting your ads

• clicks by automated clicking tools, robots, or other deceptive software
• extraneous clicks that provide no value to the advertiser, such as the second click of a double-click
• Each click on an AdWords ad is examined by our system, and Google has sophisticated systems to
identify invalid clicks and impressions and remove them from your account data.

When Google determines that clicks are invalid, we try to automatically filter them from your reports and payments so that you're not charged for those clicks. If we find that invalid clicks have escaped automatic detection, you may be eligible to receive a credit for those clicks. These credits are called "invalid activity" adjustments.

An invalid click includes any clicks or thoughts that'll artificially increase an advertiser's expense or a writer's profits, and which is why we choose to not cost the advertiser. This includes, but is not limited to, clicks or impressions generated by a publisher clicking on his own ads, a publisher encouraging clicks on his ads, automated clicking tools or traffic sources, robots, or other deceptive software.

Others would argue that 2% is too low. I’m not advocating that once you hit 2% CTR, you’re in the clear.

Are you running ads on Facebook or Google Adwords? Which medium is profitable for you? For me it's not about profit only. It's about profit and tracking. If I can't track ROI accurately then there is no reason to promote ads in that medium.
