Actually, I really don't think you should submit to SEs. Let them find your site naturally. :)

You don't need to submit your site to SEs. Robots will crawl it eventually. But you can ping your site. Use pingomatic for that.

So as to increase your web presence, build as much backlinks as you can. Forum postings, Blog commenting and social bookmarking can proved to be very important in getting backlinks.
