Postby 80smusic » Thu Aug 31, 2006 6:41 am

Is it ok to use the same meta description as title tag in a website?

I would try to stay away from that, you can take a cut version of your description for your title tag. Just make sure to have some keywords in there that are relevant to the page!

Are meta descriptions irrelevant for google :? ?
I try to use the same key phrases of the title within the meta description as well.
Title tag = 60 - 90 digits
description tag = 100 - 200 digits

For mine, I use keywords in both.

I do not use the same description as title, because it is too long. Search Engines dont read after a certain title length. (varies and depends on SE)

dont use the same keywords more than twice in title and metatags.

Let's say the title of a page is CNC machining, manufacturing engineering

Then I would go in the Meta description:
"CNC machining of mechanical components manufacturing parts engineering"

Just to be a bit different and add keywords that will also be use on the site. The title should be short and descriptive using keywords one would use in the in the text as well.
