google iranking problems
My website, Retro Vinyl Records <http://www.retrovinyl.co.uk>,has around 50 pages indexed by google,is pagerank 4,and has a decent rank in dmoz.
Google webmaster tools shows that my site is postioned at #15 for my major keyword phrase 'vinyl records' for the past 3 weeks, but it doesn't show up anywhere in google search results, unless you search for the site by name.
A few weeks ago my site was at #6 for this search term, but disappeared again after only 4 days.
The site has over 1000 back links and a consistent #2 ranking in Yahoo, but keeping a good google ranking has become extremely frustrating
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?
Any advice gratefully received

I have recently added new pages & added the site to quite a few PR 3 + directories & have reciprocal links with nearly all of the top sites for the term 'vinyl records'.
The site was where i wanted it to be back in April, but as i said before it only lasted 4 days
Sales have plummeted & i'm beginning to feel forced into Adwords,a route i'd rather not go down,as it cost me a fortune at the end of last year
I just found out how to add a link posting here
Thanks for the tip

It appears that my efforts in getting more backlinks has worked!
I'm back on page 1 for my main keywords & various other related search terms
Let's see how long it lasts this time
I'm posting this,as it may give others hope in achieving better ranking in google

It looks like i spoke too soon.
The decent ranking lasted 1 day only & my site has slipped into obscurity yet again
This is getting completely ridiculous, and if it continues i will be out of business soon
I have posted on google's own forum today and it appears to be a common problem, but why?
Any constructive ideas or help will be very gratefully received

google doesn't have their own forum site... anyways,, continuous link building, linking your site to related sites with high PR can give you SERP boost! just be patient in getting quality links... its not a short term process... it's Continuous!

I posted on the Google Webmaster Tools forum, which is part of Google Groups.
One repsonse mentions there could be a DNS problem,as it shows the domain as 'active but no website'
I'm aware that it's a continous process & have put the effort in for the past 7 years, but as it stands i do need a quick fix to get back to the position i have been in for 5 of those 7 years

I have kept a log of the serp changes for my website since July (details below) for my major keyphrase vinyl records
Are other people having similar problems & does anyone have any constructive advice or know of any reasons why the site slips in & out of results, whereas rival sites appear to stay in the same position?
As stated before the site has good backlinks, position 2 in Yahoo, dmoz inclusion & was registered more than 7 years ago
Any help greatly appreciated
