Paying for Social Bookmarking

Hi,
I have a question, I have been submitting my new website to social book marking websites, and being new at doing this it takes me a long time. And im not sure if im doing it right. I ran across a website that submits your website to those social book marking websites. If I pay for them to do that will google penalize me?

I don't advise to pay for these automated social bookmarking submission softwares! I just don't see it necessary. And I don't think it can give you good feedback. Just do it manually and I tell you, it is way much better!

Why pay if you can do it for free? Doing it manually is still better. Automated tools are often used for spamming. They aren't very advisable.
