Google only looks at the first 101 links on any page.

It is ok to have more than 100. Although it is reccommended to have less than 100 though.

An XML Sitemap can can contain up to 50,000 URLs or reach a file size of 10MB (uncompressed!). However, I would recommend you to split such large sitemaps into various smaller ones which allows Google to retrieve only the latest ones regularly.

You don't need to worry if your site only has 100 pages Google will inxed a lot more than that in a sitemap. If you have 100 pages on your site then yes its good if you have more then no its missing some. But in answer to your question 100 is fine.

I don't see anything wrong with putting a hundred links in the sitemap. Just make it organized for your visitors. Sitemap is supposed to be a collection of links to your pages.

There's no problem with it, but you shall specify if you are talking about xml sitemaps or the html sitemap page on your site.
