Get as many backlinks as possible. This is quite important for Yahoo. Not so important for a while for Google.

Just keep on link building. I think what you are doing is right to be index by google. And you can do more on forum posting, and classified ad posting.

I think the yahoo directory is a must. I don't think you can afford not to do it.

Keep relevant text and links in HTML. Encoding your text in graphics or image maps can prevent search engines from finding the text or following links to your website's other pages.
