SEO results how soon,
Nowdays with bots visiting your site with help of sitemap submission in 24 to 48 hrs, you could expect being listed for specific keywords in 2-3 days even pr 1 for some of them where there is less competition.
It is also based on the uniqueness of your content, if the content is strong you check your keyword list for new keywords in google analytics you would be find many new additions other than the keywords specified by you in the keyword meta tag.
Results start from as early as a week and gradually add up in 3 months.
Submissions to quality web directories, article directories, social bookmarking sites, press release web sites also help in greater visibility for your site.

Re: how long should i wait for my SEO?
If your getting tons of back links then you'll have higher chances of getting into top rankings and high PR.. But its not just back links that you should consider - its the QUALITY of back links..It actually depends on how hard you work.

Yes, agree with all post.
SEO is not an easy job, it takes time to see the output of your work.
It depends how you optimize the site.
