Hi all, i have just been snooping with my opsitions sites and noticed that one site that is quite highly placed has got a normal Title at the top of their <head> </head> and also a meta tag title both have different descriptions in them.
Is this a new seo technique that is out there and if so will it really make a difference to ranking in the search engines?

IF your talking about meta tags, it will help you but not that much! if you wan to rank in a certain keyword you may put your target keywords in the title, description but don't spam!

How can you say Google doesn't give much weight on metas, all we read these days is make sure you have a good title and description both relating to your content, obcourse google gives weight on meta's

agree with bogs...meta tags do nothing in SERP...but don't forget your your title tag,,...

Bogs is right, Google doesn't give much weight on metas. At least not as much as Yahoo does...

Put your most target and crucial keyword in the title tag. Also insert the kewords in the content keeping in view the keyword density.

Title is very important for SERP.

And meta tag description is important for CTR...

Title tag and Description are more important than the other metas and SEs are treating them as one of the factors in on-page opt..

Theres nothing wrong about putting a tittle, description and keywords its an old fashion style of SEO. I think robot still crawl your page every now and then.

I realise Google doesn't really pay much attention to titles and description. I have a site ranked number 3 on page 1 of the search results and the keyword is not even in the title!

Title Tag Is must useful in google but we can not ignore the description Tag.
