forum posting are good backlinks?
I am a bit new to SEO. And i have read that forum posting can be great backlinks for your site. But how does it work? each post means a new backlink? (well yes because of your signature). But why is that when you change your signature in your profile, all of your signatures in your other posts changes as well - its like they are just all one link.

Forums are great source of backlinks if you'll choose the good ones..
that's how it works.. when you updated or made some changes with your sig on a certain forum, your sig links on your posts will automatically change tooOriginally Posted by seolady

Thanks
thank you guys for your answers.
as for me, i have already submitted to directories but after that, you cant submit to them again right? so forums is better. You can post daily, just avoid spamming. And i guess social communities and bookmarking sites are great too. So thats it for me im still doing these two: forum posting & social communities/bookmarking sites.

But isn't it true that forums that aren't terribly related to your site topic wouldn't help very much? I'm a little confused about this issue. The way I understand it, if your site is about SEO, for example, posting here would be helpful, but if your site is about, say, ice cream sandwiches, it wouldn't really help you that much (since this site is unrelated to the topic). Is this correct or not?
