Google sitemap

Post by peterko »

That's right, there is an opinion sitemap helps the search engine (Google) to crawl webpages available on the site. First of all Google will crawl all available pages anyway, even without sitemap. And I saw many sites having very good SERP rating no matter they don't have sitemap.

So, I'm not sure sitemap really makes a big difference. Of course, we have to work on the site structure to organize internal links, like sitemap usually does it. But I think sitemap is not a first priority, IMO

Have a great day

you can have a sitemap.xml submitted to Google Webmaster Tools or you can have a sitemap.html on your website. The main reason for having a sitemap.html is one of the thumb rules for designing websites : any web page of your web site has to be reached by at least one static text link. That is why I build a site map and I also place a static text link to the sitemap from the main page of the website(this ensures that Google will crawl all the pages)

having xml site map help to optimize your site, for example in indexing you can submit your xml site for faster crawling, and thus for the user's to find quickly the important page on your site.

No ofence, but thats crap.
you need a site map, you need to link to it from your main page and you need to optimise your link struture so all pages can be read, google only go 4 links deep so what you are saying is wrong.
