For an effective PPC you need to have a budget. Generally, good keywords like auto insurance quotes are for large companies. They can afford to pay $50 a click because they expect to keep the customer several years once they manage to win it. But, there are people who still can make money with PPC especially in the local market. You have to keep checking the expenditure and returns with PPC in order to be profitable. Otherwise, you could run huge advertisement sums and don't get any return. You will have to check if your campaign is leading to purchases from your company or they are clicking the link but not buying anything. So, you need to find cheap money keywords. If you can set it up properly PPC gives instant results.

SEO is not easy and it can be a great success or a total miss. You can wait for years with no rankings or you push too hard and break your website as it gets penalized. On the other hand, if you can rank a website with SEO, you have no other costs. If you manage to rank for one of the big keywords like cheap auto insurance you can make good money. But those keywords are real hard.
