If the client wants their name in title use it after the first 64 characters. Use those for targeting keywords. The second version of the title is far more better but you could still add some keywords (or maybe the location of the company).

You will not lose traffic because it's a much better title for SEO then the first version.

Tips in properly optimizing your webpage/blog title:

* Include the name of your business/ name of the website
* Include your targeted keywords
* Include your city/location
* Use different title tag for every page but the title should reflect the content that can be found in the particular webpage.
* Use short web page titles because it can be easily read by visitors. Do not use special characters because it might not be properly displayed and your website might look strange in a SERP

Example:
Title: mico.com - Inexpensive Shirts in Australia

But if the business is new, it is recommended to list your keywords first before the name of your business. Why? It is simply because your business it not yet popular and people might be looking for solutions to their problem. (In the example listed above, the keyword "Inexpensive Shirts was used to provide short but very informative information about your webpage.

Example:
Title: Inexpensive Shirts in Australia - mico.com

That definitely reads better but I would guess that "personal injury lawyers" is a very competitive search term.
I would definitely add your location a micoblanco suggested. When people living in Boston, for example, are looking to hire a lawyer, they're probably going to google "boston personal injury lawyer" not just "personal injury lawyer." And if you live in a big city, that still may not get you to page 1 so if that's the case, if possible I'd try to come up with on more word to describe your personal injury services in more detail.

And if human rights is equally as important a service as personal injury I would do something like this:

Boston personal injury lawyer|human rights lawyer|firm name
or
Boston personal injury/human rights lawyers- firm name

If human rights is a secondary service, then I might use that as a title to a secondary page and fully optimise your main page for personal injury.

Right.

And you should also play with keyword prominence more closely to what are people's search pattern for multiple keywords.

A well optimized page title is the first step in effective search engine optimization... Limit the number of phrases targeted on a single page, stick to 2-3 phrases (max) and Limit title to relevant target phrases, avoid irrelevant words (ie phone number, url, brand)
