nofollow simply means that Google will not pass any PR to the destination whereas they normally would.

I searched about both nonfollow and dofollow and found this one...

"Nonfollow"attribute was created in 2005 to help bloggers managing comments and control the number of inserted links. Simply say, it was created to stop spammers taking advantages by placing unwanted links on blog posts. “Nofollow” attribute is added automatically to your link, and it will be valueless since search engines won’t be following them to index. Thus, from SEO point of view “nofollow” links don’t have any value as they are not counted as valid links pointing back to your site.

“Dofollow”
is the opposite of “nofollow”. What are the benefits of “dofollow” and what it can do for your business? The main benefit is that you get a link back to your site. And backlinks are very important for any website or a blog. They are considered by Google as votes that have been given for your site and will greatly increase traffic and ranking positions of your website. By submitting comments on “dofollow” blogs you get free and quality backlinks

Hope this info will be helpful for you to understand both the terms

A link that is not nofollowed is known as dofollow link. A Dofollow link is a link crawl able by search engine. Dofollow is not a tag, its an attribute you simply don’t nofollow a link if you want it be dofollowed.
While “nofollow” attribute tells the search bot comes across such a link, it will know that it should not crawl the site, this link will not be counted toward the PageRank of the site that is receiving it.

Nofollow isn't all bad

Post by buddy007 »

While you don't get any credit in Google for a link on a nofollow site, you do get credit in other engines like Yahoo and MSN. Another reason to include links to your site from at least a few nofollow sites is the fact that it looks like more natural linking. I suspect that Google would probably think it was odd if every single backlink that you had were only from high PR sites that were dofollow.

Nofollow links are links that won't be counted as backlinks by Google.

Nofollow means that is not right according to google and Dofollow means that is good and accepted by google. In short Dofollow is opposite of Nofollow.
I dont agree with you here.

nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. In simple words you can say that, the nofollow links do not pass any link juice and are also not considered as backlinks.

Its not like that these links are not right as per google. People normally have nofollow links to avoid spam and also to avoid PR bleed of their site.

Well both links are very important for SEO , Google Don't Care about Nodofollow But if google see you'r All Back links are coming from dofollow site then they think you are spamming ... So always try to have some nodofollow and dofollow links at same time ... And another thing yahoo cares about nodofollow link so nodofollow links help you to improve your Ranking in yahoo and also it'll help you not get penalize From google ... So just don't Think About Dofollow links for your site always try to make balance between Dofollow and nodofollow links
