I just read the article. Search engine submission is no longer necessary. SE robots crawl sites naturally.

* Tell about your site to your friends, family members and encourage them to tell it to others.
* Put your site url on printed and marketing materials.
* Put your website address on your business cards, stationeries, brouchers, advertisements and everything else that goes out of your house.
* Put your website address on envelopes when you send mails.
Do you consider #9 tip on your promotion? I think that's too much for promotion. It can be done if you really wanted to expose your site in just a short time plus big money are then involved.
