Is PageRank based only in BackLinks?

Is it only the backlinks, the most effective factor that calculates the pagerank of a page?

According to Google, "PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value." PR is based on the quality of backlinks. It's not a matter of quantity.

PageRank is not just a measure of how many backlinks you have. If that were true then your PR would never go down unless you lose backlinks. But sometimes our PR goes down even though we have been building backlinks the whole time. There must be other factors that go into calculating the PageRank.

AFAIK, yes. It's the backlinks that is the major factor in calculating pr.

I have found that quality "niche" links are what works best to increase PR

Well if you are asking about most then yes , Its just back links those will help you to increase your pr, but there is Category of your site and content of your site those help you to get some pr , but yeah most important Factor is that link help yopu to get high pr,

Quality backlinks is the most important to get a high page rank and your site must be listed on the right category of services that your site offers on search engine directories..

PR depends on the back link counts. For better PR the back links should be from similar niche.

I think quality back links is not enough to get high page rank on Google. We should have a user friendly site with good design.
