You CAN hide your backlinks.
In your robots.txt file or htaccess file you can block ahrefs, majestic, OSE etc. from indexing your site. I don't think that looks very natural to Google, but it can be done.

You can use the .htaccess file to hide the website links. Robots.txt can be also used for this purpose. For example,there are lots of tools available now (Semrush,Ahrefs) for check competitor backlinks. you can block this tools to access your backlinks.
Syntax :
User-agent: * Disallow: User-agent: rogerbot Disallow: /
User-agent: SemrushBot Disallow: /
User-agent: xenu Disallow: /
User-agent: MJ12bot Disallow: /
User-agent: AhrefsBot Disallow: /

Using the robot.txt file is not going to do anything as crawlers can and do ignore it. Preventing them via your .htaccess file is another thing absolutely as they will be completely blocked from your website and is just as easy to do as you can modify your .htaccess file with note pad, no plug-in required.
