what is keyword density?

keyword density is the measure of the keyword appearance over total words in your web page or blog. This helps in recognizing the relevancy of the content to Search engine. But If some one uses keyword more then required search engine will consider that web page as Spam.

The number of times the keyword is found as compared to the overall proportion of content on the webpage is known as keyword density.

I think this is not true of the product sales pages, especially in the catalog. The density here is very high but still ranked on google search.

As you didnt mentioned specifically for catalog, it is the general answer.

keyword density means the number of times a particular keyword is repeated on a particular page.
keyword density should be below 4%.
