Try to check if the backlins are "DOfollow" wherever you post them. From what I've heard, many say that nofollow links may affect your website ranking in a negative way.

irrelevant backlinks won't affect SEO but even it will not help you. try to get backlinks from relevant sites so that you have more chances of conversion.
Two types of backlinks are there
1. No Follow
2. Do Follow
Do follow will pass the link juice and No Follow will not pass the link juice to your site.
