Dribbble plays a large role in the everyday life of a designer in 2019. Whether it be logo design, icon design, UX/UI design, or graphic design you’ll for sure be inspired by all the talented members of this creative community. With over 1 trillion pixels shared and tens of millions of designers taking to the online community and sharing their work, Dribbble shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. But with such a huge community of incredibly skilled designers comes the challenge, how do you build your audience on Dribbble and get noticed?

In this article, I’ll be talking about some key factors that will help you boost your following on Dribbble as both a talented designer and an agency.

1. Post regularly
This is one of the most important pieces of advice and the key to building your Dribbble following. The more shots that you can post per week the better chance you have of building up your following. This can be harder when you don’t have enough content to post maybe 4 to 5 times a week but that’s when you need to block off a few days, put on your headphones and build up your content. From here you can create a content calendar of your upcoming posts and stick to it. Then watch your fabulous designs build up your followers.

2. Think carefully about what time you post
You want your hard worked on designs to reach the maximum amount of people possible. To do so, you need to select what time you post carefully. This golden time for Dribbble is well known to be Monday – Thursday from 11 pm to 2 am PST. It’s also important to remember that the Dribbble front page resets at 9 pm PST.
But if you are not 100% sure this time frame is working from you, why not set up Google Analytics and track your engagement.
I know that for some people posting during this time doesn’t work from them, some of us can’t wait around until 2 am EST to post on Dribbble. But it’s ok, Dribbble has a fix for this. They let you schedule your posts. No more sitting up drinking coffee until 2 am to hit that upload button.

3. Show Diversity
No one wants to see the same design over and over again, You need to show diversity on your Dribbble profile. For example, if you are primarily focused on UX/UI Design break out your work into Mobile design, UI Dashboard design, Web design, style guides, wireframes etc doing this shows that you are not just a “One trick pony”.

4. Create good work and interact with the community
I suppose this is a no brainer and is critical on Dribbble. You want to put your best foot forward and create work that people are going to be inspired by and want to engage with. Not only do you want to create work that makes people inspired, but you also need to interact with the work of others that inspire you. We all know how much time is involved in creating all of those amazing designs, so be sure to communicate with other fellow designers and let them know how much you love their work.

5. Building your company presence on Dribbble
A lot of what goes for building your presence as a designer on Dribbble is also important for building your company following. A great feature that Dribbble offers is teams. Designers can continue to use Dribbble as normal but tag their work as teamwork, and then this will, in turn, populate your organization’s profile with the work your team is working on.
Dribbble members can then follow your company and stay up to date on recent projects and the designers behind it.
Overall it’s clear that the most important thing that will help build your Dribbble following is put in the work. It’s not going to happen overnight but when you are publishing good quality work consistently it will happen.

While there may not be an exact formula you can follow, here are a few things that I think are important:

BE PASSIONATE
This applies to anything in life. To succeed you need determination and passion. Don’t be afraid to post work that you feel may be a little bit out of your comfort zone. It’s healthy to be uncomfortable when designing. Putting yourself out there is how you grow and develop.

FIND YOUR STYLE
I got this advice very early on in my career as an illustrator and I had no idea what it meant. At first, all I did was ‘copy’ other designers I admired online. As I got better over time, I realised that I was developing my own style. By working on various illustrated series, I slowly started to develop a unique style. I say unique very loosely as I know there are a million designers out there with a similar style. I suppose it’s not really about finding a unique style, but more about becoming comfortable with a style and making it yours, even if it’s not unique.

SET GOALS
This is another statement that applies to anything in life. Set goals. Without clear goals, you’ll struggle to feel any great achievement.

LEARN ABOUT SOCIAL PLATFORMS
Do your best to learn about the social platforms you’re using. Figure out when it is best to post and what is best to post. There are probably some tips you already know, like weekend posts don’t get as many views at weekday posts, posting every day will get you more traction, and always attach an image. It’s all about maximizing your

Add them on LinkedIn, follow them on Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest. There is a huge chance they will follow you back and it's a good start of making a great friendship with other designers.
