WordPress is for everyone & only developers. Even though codeIgniter is a light and very detailed framewoerk, a non coder cannot do anything with it.
So, for a general use, WordPress is aslways a better option. To learn as well as execute.

WordPress is used world wide and it is very useful online tool to create a blog or site. In Codeigniter you need to make website using php file which is difficult for an beginner. In wordpress you can create a site without need to typing even a single line of code. i havent used codeigniter but i have used wordpress and it is good according to me as it has many options regarding the website development and which i feel is top notch .
