Is it possible to rank on Google without inserting the keyword in the backlink anchor text? If yes then how Google recognizes our keywords?

This is like an impossible thing in this age of SEO because before some days SEO just focuses on only backlinks means off-page but today it is compulsory to do on page with off-page as well. But the SEO service from an SEO expert without backlinks or off-page is not possible and can not imagine.

Today to rank on top of SERP you need to use keywords and good content, earlier SEO just focuses on only backlinks means off-page but today it is compulsory to do on page with off-page as well.
