To learn SEO, first you need to take some review about SEO, and read some article for some basic techniques and if really don't understand SEO, I think its much better to find some tutorial about SEO.

The first thing you need to do is submit your website to the popular SE, such as google, bing, yahoo etc.
Secondly, better contents, higher page rank;
Thirdly, social marking.
These are the basic and first three steps. You have to learn more about SEO via some reviews and articles then try, try, try.

First do keyword research for your site, then choose the best keywords which converts traffic to your site.
Do social bookmarking, directory submissions, Link building and forum posting.

Better read some info in books or searching info here in Internet.. Participating in webmaster forums with SEO topic can really helps. As long as you follow the proper way and put it in practice..

Read about SEO methods and process. The first thing that you can do is having an On-page optimization then go for off-page optimization concerning into Link building process.
