You can follow the tips below to optimize for Yahoo:

1- For yahoo optimization, content is very important. it should be unique and keywords should be used in content.
2- The subject meta tag is very informative for yahoo
META NAME="Subject" CONTENT="place your keyword here"
3- Use H1 and H2 tags on every page.
4- Keyword should be used in the page address
5- Alt text should be applied for image
6- Inlinks- Include links in content of your relevant site page.
7- Sitemap will be txt but in google it should be xml
Also, don't forget to submit your site in Yahoo's Site Explorer (you can search for it easily)

Its easy to optimize in yahoo because they include no follow links and yahoo see all the text on your site maybe by putting your target keywords on the title tags and execute it properly you may do the trick.

Yahoo gives more weight, compared to Google, to a page that displays more keywords. The study suggests that most of the high ranking pages generally had a higher number of keywords or keyword density in the body and title of the page.

Different Search engines have different algorithms. We cant say what need to be done exactly for specific search engine. But in general content and links are the basic things that all the search engines will consider. So need to concentrate on getting quality links and puting quality on site.

A good press release can easily build the links you need at any time. Unfortunately, there are mixed results when I pointed out the archived press releases, inevitably, as the first link fade.

Actually, optimizing in Yahoo is just the same as you optimize in Google. It's almost the same.
