Hi,
Google is getting more complicated than Matrix which nobody understood, but everyone enjoyed watching .

Google specifically scroll different websites according to their business logic. As per Google rule, it keeps details on number of times it found fresh content on any particular website. If any website update content within a span of 2-3 days, then google crawler will frequently visit that website. Google search crawler is thirsty for good content and is always in search of those websites which produce quality content on regular basis.

If you are posting updates to your website regularly, I think that it would be a good idea if your homepage will have a snippet of the most recent post in order for the homepage to be also indexed by Google more often.

Google has loved quality contents since the beginning. It's not something new.

Google track those related sites... yes, they love fresh and good content but you need to submit your site first in order to be crawl and recognize by spiders.

It's recommendable to incorporate strong backlinks on site, most especially on your new contents so Google will count them on your site. Many other webmaster out there keep stealing contents and the sad part is that they come to be indexed first before the original site does.
