I am very anxious to start seeing my website http://www.petmedoutlet.com and its pages showing up on search engines, and I recently have been looking at Alexa and I have no page rank. How long does it take to obtain a page rank and what determines the rank number? Does anyone have any advice on how to speed up the process or rank better? Thanks

Alexa rank is determined by how many people with the "alexa toolbar" view your website pages. It cannot determine total traffic hits and such only traffic that is sent back via their toolbars.

So that ranking system means sqaut to me..

PR doesn't mean much either..

you have to understand that both of these are simply SELLING points for advertisers and don't really show an accurate gauge of a websites perfomance or worth to a vistior... So before you go jumping of a bridge cause your rating is low understand that it does not mean much......

Yeah just install the toolbar, surf your site a few times a day and your rank will drop. I did it as a test and mine dropped about 645,000 in about 2 weeks. It doesnt mean a thing so dont even bother with it!

As everyone already mentioned, traffic is the key to increase in alexa ranking.

There are many ways to draw the huge amount of traffic. You can submit your website to popular web directories, you can post the article related to your website and services. Also you can consider advertising your website in Google/MSN/Yahoo if you not short of budget, and ofcourse Pixel Advertising.

Alexa loves traffic. You will see huge boost in alexa ranking if you some how manage to increase your traffic.

You will only see a better alexa ranking if the visitors to your site hav the toolbar installed. If they dont, then your ranking will not drop. dont even worry about it!

you can do Google and Yahoo PPC to improve your traffic so that it will improve your Alexa Rank by traffic

You can increase Alexa ranking by getting more links to your site.

More the number of backlinks more will be ranking

More unique and interesting content more will be ranking.

I thought not too many people care about Alexa ranking. Can anyone answer if that ranking has anything to do with google SERP positioning. If not why should we care about it?

For me Alexa Ranking is worthless.

There are tons of information on the web in which will give you several steps on how to increase AR. And sad to say, most of them are crazy techniques that brings fake traffic. Anyway, having a good alexa ranking is a certification that your site receives a lot of traffic.
