V7N Forums for me is the best forum, not just for backlinks and PR, but also because of the fact that spam is not welcome in the forum, thanks to the active moderators of the forum. And by the way, I suggest that whichever forum you go, always follow the forum rules and avoid spamming, such as starting a new thread asking general questions which just requires some definitions (which can obviously be answered by any simple web search) such as "What is link building?", "What is SEO?", or some sort of that.

Back links depends on your posts and the topics. If your post is helpful and related to your site theme. It will count in back links regardless in which forum you are participating except no follow forums.

There are however some dofollow forum sites that don't show sig links to search engines. You can only see those links when you are logged-in. SE bots aren't members of the forum that's why it won't see your links.

You can target your keywords properly and gain direct traffic if you do post on relevant forums. The benefits of relevant forums is simply because almost all the members are interested in that particular niche.

What you can get from high Page rank. Page rank is not a necessary one to gain traffic or serp rankings. Try to concentrate on these.

But it's quite difficult to get a comment approved on these froums. Except for DP and SP and v7n, all these forums are heavily moderated.
