Better to use the Alt Text while you are optimizing the images.

Some of my blogs can easily gain traffic from image results with just right description of the post plus correct filename of the images before being uploaded..

search engines cannot read images, so you must put alt tags to make it readable for search engines and that may help your image rank on Google image search

Use the alt tag for all your images. As simple as that. Make sure it's relevant to your niche.

Optimising images for the web is a tricky business. You have to get the right balance between filesize and picture quality. It is an essential step though. Look at any webpage, and you will see that most of its load time comes from images. Your website will be needlessly slow if you don't drop the sizes of these images.
There are three key areas where bytes can be shaved off your graphics: bit depth (number of colours), resolution, and dimension. Here I'm going to show you the practicalities of web graphics optimisation, and less of the technicalities. You don't need expensive graphics editors to compress the sizes of your images, as there are plenty of free utilities and shareware that will do the job for you.

First, are you a PIPS member? This most definately isn't a PIPS site. This forum is primarily for members of Stone Evan's PIPS affiliate program.

With that said, after looking at your site, it's pretty BARE and doesn't grab a visitors attention.

The 4 lines of text on your home page really don't say much about what it is you are trying to provide or accomplish.

You have a total of 2 images in your "gallery". If you are hoping to get others to fill your site with free images that can be shared with others, you should probably have more than 2 pictures on your site when the visitors do begin to come.

Also, you should ensure that every picture you have to "share" come with proper rights or you could subject yourself to some pretty serious consequences with the actual owner of the pictures.

This site like any other site has to be promoted to get visitors. Just putting a few links in a few directories isn't going to get you any traffic, or not enough traffic to make a difference.

You should begin by writing high quality content articles about the benefits of sharing images and other subjects that pertain to your site. Submit those to top article directories. Write a descriptive resource box (about the author) with a link to your website at the end of each article. (Back links)

Join forums that are relevant to your website. Participate with quality responses and when allowed, put a link to your website in your signature. if people like what they read from you, there is a higher degree of probability they will click on your link to see what you have to offer.

Show your knowledge of the subject matter.

Putting up posts suggesting you haven't a clue what you are doing is not going to endear you to people that may have a desire for your service.

Image optimization focuses only on image and the text around your image. That's why alt tag is very useful. Since we know that SEs can't read images. That's why the alt is like the anchor text or the description what the image is.
