When you start promoting a new web site in order to get traffic, what is your marketing strategy and primery focus?

1. PPC.
2. PPC + SEO.
3. Banner ads
4. Never invest anything. Try to make free SEO (forums, blogs, social media posting, articles, etc.)
5. Buy or exchange links.
6. Content and on-page SEO.
7. Build satelite micro-sites.
8. Automated link building software.
9. A little bit of everything.

If i would start promoting a new web site in order to get traffic, my marketing strategy and primary focus would be doing a bit of everything but in a systematic and balanced way...

I think we should prevent buy links and automated link building software.The best way of link building is try to manually with quality work.

I will go for fourth on i.e. 4. Never invest anything. Try to make free SEO (forums, blogs, social media posting, articles, etc.)

Try to do natural. Google is no 1 search engine. If you get good ranking in google than I don't think so you have to buy links.

Totally agree with you. ON & Off page SEO is best. No other things require.

I think automated link submitter does no good in link building campaign. It is only good at getting a large quantity of links but the quality of the links are low, it's always a good way of getting backlinks manually.

I have only been doing SEO work for about 6 months now, and yet when I see all these idiots doing SEO and the spamming methods they use, its really sad. I have gotten all my sites up to the first page of google for the majority of my keywords, high and low competitive ones.

The two main things I use and that I think are the very best ways:

1. Optimize your website. On-site SEO.
2. Article submission. A LOT OF IT. And to high quality sites too, not spamming to a bunch of worthless article sites. I stick to sites like ezinearticles, suite101, and ideamarketers. you will only waste your own time posting to useless article sites that approve every bit of crap.

My basic SEO strategy is to submit and post my links to related niches to high PR sites. And just like what you have mentioned, the approached in doing techniques in SEO are depends on the site and the target market that you want to cater your services or business.
