i am new here can you give me some tips about anchor text.

For more details, you can search in Wiki or google. Anchor text, telling from its name, is the text between Anchors(<a>tag in html). As the following example,

<a href=”http://www.goabercrombie.com/”>Abercrombie Store</a>

The red text Abercrombie Store is the anchor text for this hyperlink (or text link as it is sometimes called).

In SEO, we often use Anchor text and the hyperlink to do backlinks, which can help up to improve the PR value in Google.

Anchor text has so much importance in link building work.My all friend told you above in this thread about anchor text.According to me,when you start SEO then first you do keyword research and target some keywords for your link building work.And when you place that keywords in your link building work that is called anchor text.Placement of anchor text is so necessary because it helps to get high rank for that keyword.

Generally we consider our keywords as anchor text, because we put link on our keywords with the help of anchor tag <a> and </a>. So the the text between the anchor tag is considered as anchor text.
