301 redirects are used to permanently move a site to a new location. Search engines do not apply penalties to 301 redirects the way they apply them to many other types of redirects.

301 redirect is the best SEO friendly method for website or page redirection.
It's easy to implement and it should help you maintain your search engine rankings for that particular page.
Either if you have to change file names, domain names, or move pages around, it's the safest option. A 301 redirect should be implemented in your .htaccess file, as follows:
Redirecting static pages
Code: redirect 301 /old/old.htm http://www.site.com/new.htm
Be sure not to add "http://www" to the first part of the statement - just put the path from the top level of your site to the page. Also, leave a single space between the elements.
