What should be the Maximm Character length of a Domain

I have created a website
www.bharathedu.com i feel this is a lengthy name and not catching in the visitors mind is there any logical lenght fo the domain name

According to ICAN maximum number of characters for any Domain represented by IP address is 63 character

IMO I think domain name is still important. I heard some big guy bought wiki.com with millions. If you have a catchy name, people don't need to go to search engine again. You might have the risk that visitors go to other sites.
