Is a top level domain (like your.com) instead of a subdomain important to get high rankings in search engines?

I would never use a subdomain. First of all, as cheap as a domain name is, why the heck would you? I think a subdomain look tacky anyway but that is just my opinion.

It depends on the page structure, contents, and backlinks. Ranking is based on those factors.

I think I will go with the top level domain but it depends on the site. The structure and backlinks are one of the major factors that must be considered.

Of cause it did. It's better to set domain name as your keyword of your website.
