popular keyword as domain

Should we go for a domain which is a pouplar keyword? will it get less promotional efforts? Are there copyright isses in this regard?

I registered two websites with popular keywords, but they were also relevant for the content of those sites.
Luckily not many keywords are taken at co.za
What is actually the influence of the domain name on the rankings for those sites?!

Popular keywords work best when you can get the exact phrase in the correct order. For SEO purposes dashes are good.

If you use Google webmaster tools it will help you a lot, to find out the popular keywords, which collect hits toward your site
