Hi.
This is the reason as there are millions of web pages found in internet. So, to find information from those millions of web pages, a search engines use special software robots called spiders. These spiders used to build lists of words found on the web sites in internet. The process of these spiders building the list of websites is called as web crawling.

I have used wordtracker and I think it's great. But the one downside I observed is that because it gets it's data from metacrawlers, it ends up estimating Google data.

it tells how many people used the keywords in a particular period, for example if you want to know how many people used "forum posting" last month, then you can check it there....it gives you a clue and helps you decide whther you want to target that keyword or not

The wordtracker is quite helpful when looking for your site's keywords. It helps you identify which words are often used in searches. I think it has yielded positive results for many of the campaigns I have handled.
