What is the exact difference between google sandbox & google penalty??
What are the types of penalty given by google?

From what I know, websites (particularly new websites) are put inside the Google "sandbox" to restrict them from gaining any SERP rank and PR for a certain period of time until these sites are evaluated to be appropriate in receiving PR and SERP rankings, and the only way to get out of this sandbox is to build your reputation as well as continuous optimization. Google penalty is a different story. Sites that are penalized by Google can have two situations: either being temporarily "thrown" inside the "sandbox" or being banned temporarily. If you are doing seo (which is what it says in your signature), shouldn't you know the answer to this already?

The sandbox thing is just temporary. While the penalty, can be forever.

Sandbox is for new sites being filtered by Google to appear in the searches yet while penalty if banning a site to taking out its PR.

Odd because the original poster is marketing an Indian SEO Company and yet posted something which he should know in the 1st place.

That's just what I said about the original poster...
I would add about penalties that they can vary, or at least I would guess... I don't work for google. They can just be as minor as moving you down a few spots (I think) and as major as banning a site from their index. That's why it's important to Follow Their Rules.

I guess all might be clear from the meaning of the words themselves.
These are two different things, that have one feature in common-that's bad for you if you're in any of them

I wouldn't compare sandbox with banning. They have nothing in common - Sandbox (if it really exists, which Google denies) is a certain place for new sites where they rest for some time before become visible to other people. While penalizing means banning without (sometimes) any chance to appear again in Google search.
